The Radiology Technologist Assist provides support to the interprofessional team with tasks such as screening, patient flow support, patient transfers, stocking supplies and supporting families during imaging procedures. This role supports the effectiveness and efficiency of the imaging workflow, which in turn is expected to improve patient experience and staff experience in providing quality patient care in imaging.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Greet patients and families and orient them to the department
- Support the flow of patients and families starting from registration through to the end of their visit
- Support the MRT's and RN's in their area of practice
- Assist in positioning, transferring and lifting of patients as part of imaging procedures e.g. in radiography including portable exams, positioning and preparing patients for CT/MRI exams
- Assist in data entry and documentation of patient/procedural information into applicable information systems including radiography information systems, bed management system etc.
- Assist in confirming patient preparations and patient conditions prior to scheduling of inpatients, emergency department patients and outpatient such as isolation status, blood work for creatinine, preparation of oral contrast for CT scan etc.
- Assist in management of peripheral intravenous access
- Manage inventory and logistics of supplies including tracking and stocking
- Assist in ensuring adherence to MRI and X-ray safety standards
- Collate clinical data and relay this information in a precise and timely manner to colleagues within and outside the organization
- Maintain an efficient and tidy work environment
- Other duties as assigned to support the care team
- Assist in confirming patient preparations and patient conditions prior to scheduling of inpatients, emergency department patients and outpatient such as isolation status, blood work for creatinine, nothing to eat before IV contrast administration in CT etc.
Here's What You'll Need
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in a healthcare related field or 3rd or 4th year Medical Radiology Technologist students enrolled in an accredited medical radiation sciences program will be considered
- Prior radiological knowledge and experience preferred
- Experience with children is preferred
- Experience working in a complex, fast-paced, inter-professional team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills that demonstrate an ability to anticipate potential issues and develop solutions
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with both colleagues, patients and caregivers
- Dependability and good attendance
- Experience with Epic is preferred
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
