Position Overview:
The Senior Manager, Product Management and Marketing, is responsible for defining and executing the global product strategy for Fujifilm VisualSonics. This role owns the end‑to‑end product roadmap, technology direction, marketing strategy, and business planning required to drive profitable growth through new products, applications, and solutions in the preclinical imaging market.
This leader serves as the primary interface between Product Management, Marketing, R&D, Sales, and Scientific Applications, ensuring that technological development is tightly aligned with unmet customer needs and market opportunities. The role has full ownership of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and partners closely with R&D to deliver high‑impact innovations.
In addition to functional leadership, this position acts as the on‑site leader for VisualSonics’ Toronto‑area locations, providing matrixed leadership to approximately 40+ employees across multiple functions. The role includes oversight and coordination of local facilities and IT resources to ensure operational continuity and employee engagement.
This position requires regular engagement with global commercial leaders, key opinion leaders, and customers across North America, Europe, China, and APAC to ensure global alignment of product strategy and execution.
Essential Job Functions:
Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Define and own the long‑term global product vision and roadmap for the VisualSonics portfolio.
- Conduct ongoing market research, competitive analysis, and customer discovery to identify emerging trends, unmet needs, and growth opportunities.
- Partner with Product Management, R&D, Applications, Sales, and Regulatory teams to translate market insights into differentiated product concepts and solutions.
- Ensure alignment between technology investments, customer value, and business objectives.
Product Lifecycle Management
- Lead the full product lifecycle from concept development through launch, growth, optimization, and end‑of‑life planning.
- Prioritize features, enhancements, and investments to maximize customer value, adoption, and return on investment.
- Drive the strategic evolution from a primarily hardware‑focused portfolio toward scalable software‑enabled and workflow‑based solutions.
Marketing Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of Marketing Specialists responsible for global marketing strategy and execution.
- Oversee development of comprehensive marketing plans, including digital campaigns, scientific content, conference presence, thought leadership, and product positioning.
- Ensure creation of high‑quality marketing collateral, technical materials, case studies, and messaging tailored to academic and industry researchers.
- Lead market segmentation, targeting, and positioning strategies to maximize market penetration and commercial effectiveness.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Sales leadership to deliver product training, tools, and messaging that enable effective technical selling.
- Collaborate with Scientific Applications teams to incorporate customer feedback and insights into product and roadmap decisions.
- Serve as a key liaison between global commercial teams and R&D to ensure regional needs are reflected in product strategy.
Financial and Business Management
- Develop and manage budgets for Product Management and Marketing activities.
- Analyze sales performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics to inform pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies.
- Support business planning, forecasting, and portfolio prioritization decisions.
People and Site Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of Product Managers and Marketing Specialists.
- Provide matrixed on‑site leadership for employees across the Toronto and Markham locations, fostering engagement, collaboration, and accountability.
- Promote a culture of innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement aligned with Fujifilm VisualSonics’ purpose and values.
- Coordinate oversight of local facilities and IT resources in partnership with corporate functions.
Knowledge/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, life sciences, or related discipline. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) a plus.

8–10+ years of progressive experience in product management and/or R&D, preferably within medical devices, preclinical imaging, or life sciences technology.

Proven experience leading the development and launch of medical device technologies or laboratory instrumentation.

Experience leading global product launches and supporting international markets.

Experience contributing to or leading software‑enabled, digital, or hybrid hardware/software product strategies.

Familiarity with digital marketing platforms, CRM tools, and scientific marketing channels.

Knowledge of academic research purchasing processes and grant‑funded procurement cycles.

Strong understanding of the preclinical research market, customer workflows, and competitive landscape.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional and matrixed teams and influence without direct authority.
- Strong understanding of the preclinical research market, academic laboratory, or med device market.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a mid‑sized, entrepreneurial, and fast‑paced environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: The annual base salary for this position is $130,000 - $165,000. The exact salary offered will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience relative to the requirements of the role.
- Variable Compensation: This role is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus in accordance with the Annual Corporate Performance Bonus Plan.
