About the Role:
As a Cook, you’ll play an important role in supporting the daily dining experience for our residents by preparing fresh, high-quality meals that reflect their tastes and cultural preferences. You’ll work closely with the kitchen team to plan and prepare menus, ensure food safety standards are met, and contribute to a welcoming, home-like environment.
What you will be doing:
- Prepare food items following established schedules, menus, recipes and quantity quotas; assembling ingredients and equipmetn required for cooking. Reporting and recoding substitutions and productions quantities.
- Cook and season assigned food and various therapeutic diet items by methods/procedures such as frying , roasing, grilling, steaming, boiling and baking.
- Test food items for palatability and temperature, adjusting accordingly. Recording all required documentation (temperature logs and meal time logs)
- Maintains established food rotations in storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste; assigns tasks to designated Food Service Workers as required.
- Cleans equipment and work area using appropriate cleaning agents to ensure hospital and applicable sanitation standards are met.
- Participates in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by understanding and following Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices such as fire, disaster, WHMIS, SMART MOVES and Infection Control.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities to enrich and advance various processes through the effective use of available resources.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Following procedures and safety standards
- Understanding all dietary procedures and polices
- Being reliable and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
What we're looking for:
- Previous Cooking experience
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to providing quality service in a healthcare setting
- Graduation from a recognized 12-mnth program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Current Food Safe l certificate
