Quality Engineering, Specialist Who You Will Work With: The vacant Quality Engineering, Specialist will report to the Practice Leader, Quality Engineering and will take pride in delivering high quality software. Software that is secure, performant, resilient, and behaves as it was designed. In this role, you will work collaboratively to understand complex systems and design approaches to test our products and services. As a Senior team member, you will solve problems and help mentor others to ensure our applications are properly tested.
What You Will Do:
- Contributing to the analysis and design of application solutions, while bringing forth innovative ideas and best practices to test these solutions across all phases of the SDLC.
- Understanding the software delivery life cycle to support the quality of critical 24/7 services.
- Understanding QA methodology and industry best practices, including standards within continuous integration (CI) model.
- Holding exceptional knowledge of best practices of quality assurance and testing standards.
- Analyzing, understanding, and clarifying requirements
- Seeking to understand the software limitations and protocols.
- Developing test plans from requirements and use cases while ensuring optimal coverage.
- Creating test cases with sufficient detail to characterize the breaking point of the design, and proactively maintaining the test case suite upon design changes.
- Designing and developing automated test suites to cover various phases of QA, including functional, security, and performance.
- Effectively prioritizing test execution while examining solution dependencies and risks.
- Setting up required test beds (software and network).
- Executing scalable test cycles through manual and automated tests.
- Clearly reporting defects with sufficient detail and proactively track them to resolution.
- Documenting technical details, processes, and standard operating procedures to support the transfer of knowledge to other stakeholders.
- Creating test logs and reports, including roadblocks and system performance metrics.
- Supporting the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of internal tools and processes.
- Collaborate with the team to support scalable testing while leveraging innovative ideas.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the troubleshooting of a service during incident management.
- Promoting a positive culture of continuous improvement, transparency, open communications, and collaboration.
- Leadership, coaching and mentoring of team members in performance and completion of work.
What You Bring:
- 3-5 years of automation testing experience
- Completed a post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada in a Full Time Capacity.
- You have a Government of Canada Secret (Level I) clearance OR are eligible to obtain one
- Strong and personable collaboration characteristics.

- Work autonomously with attention to detail.

- Avid learner of new technology and understand technical concepts.

Technical Skills:
- Ability to performance, integration, and security testing.
- Experience with test automation, including Selenium, JMeter, and Junit.
- Security testing standards and tools, such as OWASP ZAP.
- Comfortable with cloud-based infrastructure solutions, including Azure.
- Experience with Docker and Ansible.
- Working knowledge of server-side web development in Java EE and Spring Boot.
- Experience with Linux/Unix based system.
What We’re Offering: The hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
