The position is currently available for Monday - Friday 4:30pm - 1:00am shift Job Summary: Shipper/Receiver personnel are responsible for operating a forklift and other material handling equipment for the purpose of accurate shipping, processing and receiving, which includes but is not limited to unloading, scanning, moving, staging, loading, locating, relocating, and stacking raw materials, packaging, general items, samples, finished goods, pallets and trays. Shipper/Receivers are also responsible for counting and inspecting product, and notifying the appropriate person when product is damaged. All work performed by Shipper/Receiver personnel must meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
Essential Functions:
- Retrieving product by adherence to FIFO and loading it onto outbound trailers
- Accurately scanning product out of retrieval locations into staging area and onto outbound trailers
- properly completing outbound trailer inspection, documentation, load balance and securing load to minimize transport damages for all outbound shipments
- supporting production line with retrieving packaging materials and raw materials to ensure minimal to no disruptions to the production run
- restocking the bins for packaging and raw materials; conducting inventory counts to support purchasing
- receiving goods from suppliers for all departments with proper documentation, labelling, inspection upon arrival and put away procedures in adherence to FIFO
- moving and unloading of shipping equipment such as pallets, trays
- moving finished goods from end of production line to assigned locations (bins, cool room, freezer, staging area)
- complete daily inventory count and detail of raw materials, packaging, bins, pallets, trailers and finished goods
- complete documentation by use of company forms and SAP correctly for all shipping transactions
- maintaining a clean and organized work environment to ensure best workflow
- safe and responsible use of material handling equipment such as forklift, power jack, high reach, and hand jack to efficiently carry out all shipping department duties
Essential Qualifications
- Work with little or No Supervision
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Great can do attitude and positive energy to share to build a strong, happy and professional team environment
- Attention to detail
- Able to work in fast paced, high pressure environment
- Able to physically lift 40kg weight consistently
- Able to work in -25C environment and warm environment (uniform, safety and work attire provided by employer)
- Experience using scanning devices (an asset)
- Forklift certification or at minimum 1 year experience operation a forklift
- Available to work various shifts with eventual permanent assignment to either day or night shift
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English thoroughly.
- Experience with shipping documentation and process (preference given to candidates with this); able to understand basic operational, technical and offices processes
- Able to meet safety, quality, productivity and attendance requirements
- Able and willing to work overtime if needed
- Able to use computer and job related software (i.e. MS Office, SAP) as well as various office equipment as needed to perform job functions
- BC lower mainland candidates preferred
