WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
We are looking for a highly motivated Bilingual Payroll Specialist (Contractual - 12 months) to join our central payroll department, who brings brilliant time management skills, has a passion for solving problems and exceptional communication skills adding to a positive business impact.
This role can be based in either locations:
- Mississauga (Hybrid) 3 days a week in the office
- Pointe-Claire (Hybrid) 3 days a week in the office

What’s the job?

Process multiple hourly payrolls in accordance with Federal and Provincial legislations, applicable collective agreements and ensure internal controls are adhered to.

Prepare salary payrolls and special calculations for the purpose of processing payrolls.

Oversee hourly and salaried payroll for union and non-unionized plants and liaise with plant administrators and distribution centers to provide support and uploading time and attendance from UKG to PeopleSoft.

Time & attendance management and maintenance of contractual changes for UKG schedules and shift rotations and review configuration changes for accuracy and implementation.

Prepare month end journal entries and review monthly accruals as required.

Liaise with plant controllers for impact on labor variances and provide needed support as required.

Monthly payroll related general ledger reconciliations as required.

Process Record of Employment (ROE) for leaves, terminations and retirements.

Process payment requests pertaining to RRSP, garnishments and union dues.

WSIB reporting and preparing of annual returns across provinces.

Respond to employee inquiries about payment details and calculations.

Monitor short term disability payments per collective agreements and policies, ensuring payment terms are adhered to.

Calculate and oversee payment of severance, maternity leave top-ups, salary continuance, and taxable benefits in accordance with company policies and government legislation.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
What do you bring?
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance or related field.
- Enrollment or Certification in Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) program or equivalent with experience.
- Minimum five years’ payroll experience and general accounting experience in a complex, manufacturing environment.
- Experience in accounting/reconciliations of payroll liability accounts and knowledge of Payroll GL.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies procedures, collective agreements, and related legislation.
- Strong computer and analytical skills including advanced knowledge of MS Excel and SAP general knowledge.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure of tight deadlines.
- Work with multiple systems and understand interfacing from payroll systems to accounting systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in understanding complex union collective agreements.
- Bilingual in English and French languages is an asset
- Ability to discretionarily work with highly sensitive and confidential information.
