Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Adult Mental Health Services, the secretary’s primary area of responsibility will be supporting the Outpatient Mental Health Services of CCH. The Secretary will manage reception and client flow along with supporting the psychiatrists scheduling, maintenance of recording/statistical systems and paper flow, clerical support to professional activities, and other duties as assigned by the Manager as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care.

Requirements of the job

  • Successful completion of a 2 year Medical Secretary Diploma Program or equivalent
  • Three years recent experience as a secretary
  • demonstrated ability to transcribe dictation quickly and accurately
  • computer literate with working knowledge of Outlook, StaffRight, UKG, Ormed & Anzer; intermediate level in Microsoft Word and beginner level in Excel and Powerpoint
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize time
  • Good communication and customer service/public relation skills
  • Minimum typing speed 60 wpm
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of office equipment including fax, telephone with voicemail, scanner and photocopier
  • Working knowledge of CRMS
  • Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English, oral in French – and testing completed)

Asset:

  • Previous experience in addiction and mental health service program
  • Knowledge of Catalyst and Cerner
