About the role
Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the applicable Director and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for:
- Educational program development for:
- Nursing staff including R.N.s, L.P.N.s, R.P.N.s.
- Support staff including U.A.s, N.A.s, U.C.s and/or applicable technicians.
- Teaching and learning activities.
- Nursing practice standards.
- Patient education development.
- Professional and Self Development.
Experience
- Must have a minimum of four years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice.
- Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
- Master's degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
- Certificate or certification in a related specialty area preferred.
- Note: In certain circumstances, certification as an instructor in a specialty training course (e.g. ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be stated as a requirement.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Current CPR (Targeted Responder) certification required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
- Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
- Initiates and supports change.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Competency with word processing and presentation programs, required.
