Kids@ Churchill Park is a non-profit child care and family support agency providing quality child care and early learning opportunities to Calgary families. We have been both pioneers and leaders in this field for 50 years. Our 7 programs include 6 group child care centres, 1 out of school child care centres, and approximately 40 family day homes. We serve the child care needs of children from young infants to school age. As a non-profit charitable agency it is our mandate to support family life, healthy child development, and early learning. Within each licensed centre and approved Day Home, Kids@ Churchill Park works hard to exceed provincial standards in all areas. We invest in quality programs and services that enhance a child’s development, and promote a child’s well-being through program services and an emergent curriculum that builds upon the imagination and potential of each child. Profile of Kids@ Churchill Park - PlayPenn Child Care Centre
- Serving children ages 0 months to 6 years
- Program runs 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday
- 7.5 hour shift with a 1 hour unpaid break, Monday to Friday
- Location: 205 – 215 9th Ave SW, Calgary AB, T2P 1K3; located in the downtown core, a couple of blocks from the C-train station
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports the safety, belonging, and meaningful participation of all children.
- Meet the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual needs of the children, including those with extra support needs
- Implement developmentally appropriate, open-ended learning experiences, including art and play-based activities, that encourage creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
- Arrange and maintain the learning environment in alignment with the program’s vision and objectives
- Observe, document, and reflect on children’s learning and development, contributing to individual portfolios and inclusive support documentation as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, documentation, checklists, and timesheets
- Maintaining confidentiality
- Keeping all relevant records, checklists, attendance and timesheets updated
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning opportunities, and internal and external workshops.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure all licensing standards are understood and consistently met
Qualifications, Skills and Professional Attributes
- Alberta Child Care Certification level 2 minimum
- Valid First Aid Certificate and Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Search
- Demonstrate knowledge of current best practices and work standards in Early Learning and Childhood Care and Education
- Experience in observing, documenting and planning an emergent program
- Knowledge of Alberta’s curriculum model FLIGHT an asset
- Demonstrate knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulation
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with families and colleagues
- Demonstrate teamwork abilities and flexibility
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Willing to learn, open to feedback and shared leadership
- Willing to participate in professional development opportunities
