About the team and the role:

The eBay Memory team is building the crucial intelligence layer that assists eBay in understanding a buyer’s intentions during their shopping journey. Our mission is to transform dispersed behavioural signals into real-time, unified memory objects that fuel relevant, personalized, and context-aware experiences across eBay. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the Memory Service, a core platform capturing user purchase intent, mission intent, and journey stage in real time. This platform makes this information accessible throughout the company, supporting applications like page optimization, content creation, conversational replies, and ranking and retrieval.

What you will accomplish:

  • You will be responsible for the Memory Service, a core platform that reflects a user’s purchase intent, mission intent, and journey stage in real time
  • Partner with engineering, applied science, analytics, user research, and downstream product and engineering teams to define a scalable memory platform that can support multiple applications across eBay.
  • Translate ambiguous customer and system problems into a clear strategy, product requirements, phased delivery plans, and decision-ready APIs and schemas.
  • Drive the definition of canonical service contracts, taxonomy evolution, confidence frameworks, lifecycle states, and versioning strategy for platform consumers.
  • Make informed tradeoffs across rules-based systems, lightweight models, sequence-model improvements, and LLM-derived outputs to balance quality, latency, and complexity.
  • Define success metrics across model quality, customer impact, and operational performance, including precision/recall, coverage, latency, freshness, adoption, and downstream lift.
  • Lead cross-functional prioritization and drive clarity on short-term versus long-term investments, launch gating, and consumer rollout strategy.
  • Communicate strategy, progress, tradeoffs, and risks clearly to senior leadership, partner teams, and execution teams.
  • Act as the product leader for a core function that facilitates more relevant, personalized, and agent-aware experiences throughout the eBay customer journey.

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of sophisticated platform products with measurable customer and business impact
  • Experience owning platform products, shared services, APIs, developer-facing capabilities, or ML-powered infrastructure
  • Strong proficiency in AI/ML product management, including knowledge of classifiers, embeddings, retrieval/ranking systems, LLM-assisted workflows, and online/offline quality tradeoffs
  • Demonstrated ability to define roadmaps and requirements for ambiguous, cross-domain initiatives involving multiple collaborators and consumer teams
  • Ability to collaborate optimally with engineers and applied scientists on architecture-level product decisions, including latency, freshness, confidence, and observability requirements
  • Technical background or proven technical depth in software, data, AI/ML, agentic systems, or marketplace systems is strongly preferred
