About the role

Autoport Limited is looking for a Port Supervisor at its facility located in Eastern Passage!

The Port Supervisor is responsible for to oversight of the 24/7/365 operational functions of the railyard, balancing the overall demand to achieve organizational objectives. The Port Supervisor assists in achieving goals, growth, and profitability of the terminal ensuring each align with the Eastern Region as a whole.

The Port Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring planning goals and strategic planning initiatives for long-term success.

The Port Supervisor is accountable to observe and report on compliance with all operating and safety rules, implementing departmental safety initiatives, and supporting inter-departmental safety goals and objectives. This position is responsible to foster strong working relationships with all of Autoport’s internal and external stakeholders with a focus on the timely and safe movement of product throughout the entire process from arrival though to yard exit.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinate with multiple operational units to ensure services are delivered to customers; co-ordinate, assign and review work.

  • Conform to all safety procedures and maintain a high level of safety awareness in the work environment, ensuring that safety procedures are adhered to at all times.

  • Utilize strong communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Exhibits dedication to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

  • Effectively communicate instructions, directions, processes, procedures, safety rules and regulations to co-workers, supervisors, and others in written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule form.

  • Must be able to assess and correct problems in stressful situations with tight time constraints.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to facilitate and execute coordinated service delivery.

  • Strong ethics with the ability to be fair, but firm.

  • Ability to delegate, monitor, and provide guidance to sub-teams in order to facilitate the completion of special projects such as safety and operational initiatives.

  • Must be able to manage an extensive workforce and develop timely solutions to operating problems.

  • Able to interface both within the company and with customers’ organizations at various levels.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Strong project management skills with comfort in leading a team.

  • Experience with unions is considered an asset; key negotiator.

  • Rail and/or automotive experience considered an asset.

  • Previous experience with transportation providers that specialize in the automotive industry an asset.

  • Satisfactory background check Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
