Signaling Systems Planning Manager – Infrastructure & Capital Projects
Overview
Matchtech are supporting a key client with the recruitment of a Signaling Systems Planning Manager to join a major infrastructure and capital projects programme. Working within a multidisciplinary programme delivery environment, this role will support the planning, scheduling, and governance of complex rail systems and signalling activities across a large-scale infrastructure portfolio.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to play a key role within an integrated programme delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving planning and scheduling best practice, ensuring alignment across projects, contractors, and stakeholders, and supporting the successful delivery of major rail and infrastructure programmes through robust programme controls, reporting, risk management, and performance monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of planning and scheduling best practices across a large-scale programme environment Drive integration of planning standards across contracts, stakeholders, and delivery teams Support transformation of delivery models, embedding integrated programme delivery (IPD/IPDT) approaches Develop and enhance programme-wide planning and scheduling procedures and frameworks Ensure consistency and alignment of planning methodologies across multiple projects Support development and implementation of programme-level contingency and risk management processes Provide programme-wide oversight of scheduling performance and reporting Enable real-time, data-driven decision-making through integrated reporting and controls Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and supply chain partners to improve delivery outcomes Identify and mitigate risks and inefficiencies impacting cost and schedule performance Promote standardisation, compliance, and best-for-programme decision making
Required Experience
Significant experience (circa 12+ years) in planning and scheduling within rail, transit, or large infrastructure programmes Strong background in systems and signalling planning environments Experience working within integrated programme delivery or similar collaborative models Proven experience managing planning and scheduling on major capital projects Strong expertise in contract administration and contract management Experience working with multiple stakeholders, contractors, and supply chain partners Track record of resolving complex planning, contractual, and scheduling challenges
Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI-SP, or PSP (preferred) Primavera P6 certification or equivalent planning tool expertise (advantageous)
Skills & Competencies
Deep understanding of project controls, planning, and scheduling methodologies Strong analytical capability with experience evaluating project performance metrics Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills Ability to drive change and support transformation initiatives Strong communication and presentation skills Collaborative mindset with a focus on programme-wide outcomes High level of accountability, professionalism, and ethical conduct
Working Arrangements
