About the role

Company Information Wesdome is a Canadian focused gold producer with two high grade underground assets, the Eagle River mine in Ontario and the recently commissioned Kiena mine in Quebec. The Company’s primary goal is to responsibly leverage this operating platform and high-quality brownfield and greenfield exploration pipeline to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer. Wesdome trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO,” with a secondary listing on the OTCQX under the symbol “WDOFF”.

Summary ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting directly to the VP Finance, the Manager, Financial Reporting will be accountable for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the financial reporting process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements in compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including finance and operations teams, to ensure timely and accurate reporting, as well as with external auditors to facilitate smooth and successful audits. The Manager of Financial Reporting plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and transparency of the business, providing essential insights that inform strategic decision-making and support the company's growth and compliance objectives.

About You In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in our financial statements, footnotes, and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).

Position Responsibilities The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of IFRS, Canadian regulatory requirements, and tax reporting, with a proven ability to manage complex financial transactions and disclosures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting Coordination: Prepare and review external financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Canadian regulatory requirements.
  • Monthly Consolidations: Oversee timely and accurate monthly financial consolidations, which lead into management and flash reports.Lead and manage the team’s monthly close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and operating business closes.
  • Audit Coordination: Serve as a key contact for external auditors, coordinating quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement and controls audit process.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed of business activities and related regulatory environments to manage and comply with all reporting requirements and disclosures.
  • Standard Reporting & Analysis: Design and maintain standard financial reports for operating businesses, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Maintain an in-depth understanding and analysis of significant and unusual transactions to assess their impact on disclosures.
  • IFRS Knowledge Management: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and related reporting requirements, managing changes and updates to internal accounting processes and practices.
  • Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives for finance processes, including running workshops, making recommendations, and implementing changes to enhance financial reporting consistency.
  • Data Definition and GL Structures: Define and monitor data definitions to enable and enhance financial reporting consistency, including the management of GL structures.

Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Tax Reporting Expertise: Ensure thorough understanding and compliance with tax reporting requirements.
  • Account Reconciliation: Support the account reconciliation process, including the review of working papers.
  • Treasury Support: As needed, support Company treasury requirements, including gold sales.
  • Budget and Forecast Support: Assist with budget and forecast processes across corporate services, adhering to reporting deadlines.
  • Corporate Service Allocations: Manage monthly corporate service allocations to the operating businesses.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with departments and managers to gather and report accurate information for timely disclosures, managing supporting documentation.
  • Variance Analysis: Help review monthly working papers and variance analysis to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Systems infrastructure: Help lead the Companies various reporting and optimization initiatives within SAP, Concur and Workiva.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years work experience in a Financial Reporting role. This includes experience in reporting, GL management, and report requirements identification.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP); preference given to those with experience using SAP.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and related financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of best practices in accounting, reporting, and financial services.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of analytical techniques and financial concepts to define and solve complex problems;
  • Knowledge of Corporate and mining tax regulations is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills.
  • Proficient in MS-Office (Excel /Word/Outlook/PowerPoint/Visio)
  • Customer service orientation, self-starter and initiative driven.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual English-French will be considered an asset.
