Project Director - Permanent - 3100

About the Opportunity

Are you a proven construction leader ready to deliver one of Ottawa’s most exciting and transformative new developments?

This is your opportunity to take the lead on the planning, design, and construction of a landmark Ottawa project, a major new hub for research, collaboration, and sustainable design. As Project Director, you will own the delivery of this complex, high-profile project from concept through completion, ensuring every milestone is met with precision, quality, and vision.

Reporting to the Real Estate Development Executive, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of internal stakeholders, project managers, construction professionals, consultants, and contractors. You’ll be the driving force behind project planning, design management, budgeting, scheduling, and delivery; ensuring that every element reflects excellence in quality, sustainability, and innovation.

This is a leadership position for someone who thrives on challenge, takes pride in execution, and can confidently guide complex real estate developments from start to finish.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Delivery

  • Drive the full project lifecycle: from design development and budgeting through to construction completion and turnover
  • Lead a small team of Project Managers and a Construction Director while managing multiple consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Represent ownership interests and maintain alignment between executive objectives, design intent, and construction outcomes

Planning & Project Controls

  • Oversee the development of project scope, schedule, and budget; track and manage performance against the approved proforma
  • Implement robust cost controls and progress-tracking systems
  • Lead reviews of contractor invoices, change orders, and risk mitigation plans

Design & Construction Oversight

  • Coordinate all design and construction activities with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure quality, safety, and compliance
  • Oversee design coordination meetings, site walkthroughs, and milestone reviews
  • Champion sustainable design and construction methodologies, including LEED and other green building initiatives

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with consultants, city officials, utilities, and construction partners to ensure collaboration and accountability
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ownership, facilitating timely decision-making and project reporting

Reporting & Governance

  • Deliver regular updates to executive leadership on project progress, budget, and risks
  • Maintain complete documentation and ensure transparency across all phases of development

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline
  • 15+ years in construction, including 10+ years in project management and delivery of large-scale commercial or corporate campus developments in Canada
  • Proven experience in real estate development, design management, and construction execution
  • Strong grasp of Canadian building codes, zoning, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Expertise in project budgeting, scheduling, and cost control
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and engage with executive stakeholders
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation, technology integration, and sustainability in the built environment

About the Job

This is a rare chance to leave your mark on a major development that will redefine innovation and sustainability in Ottawa’s built environment.
