The** Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese ** (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. Star of the Sea Schoo l is a vibrant Catholic elementary school (Kindergarten to Grade 7) in the welcoming South Surrey community, serving families from Surrey and White Rock. Faith is at the heart of all we do, guiding our teaching, relationships, and daily life through the values of reverence, respect, and responsibility. We foster a nurturing, inclusive environment where students grow academically, spiritually, and socially, supported by a strong partnership between dedicated staff, engaged families, and our parish community.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Star of the Sea School is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Inclusive Education Teacher to support student learning in our faith-centered elementary community (K–7). Rooted in Catholic values, this role is integral to fostering an inclusive environment where every student is supported to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Student Support Plans
- Provide targeted support to students with diverse learning needs, both in-class and through small group instruction
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, Educational Assistants, families, and external specialists
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Support social-emotional development and promote positive, inclusive classroom environments
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in school-based team meetings
Qualifications:
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate
- Training and/or experience in Inclusive Education or Special Education
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and diverse learning needs
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the faith life of the school
Preferred Assets:
- Experience working in an elementary school setting
- Knowledge of current inclusive practices and assessment strategies
- Familiarity with assistive technology and intervention programs

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.
