About the role

Your Opportunity:

The Health Link Team has an opportunity for an energetic, passionate, and experienced Registered Nurse looking for a change in how care delivered where you will be utilizing your robust communication skills, extensive nursing knowledge and diverse work background.

An essential part of this provincial health team, you will be responsible for providing telephone triage services, offering health advice and information to callers across Alberta. Health Link’s mission is to deliver care and reliable advice, connecting individuals to the appropriate care, provided by the right health care professional at the right location. Utilizing the clinical software, diverse databases and clinical protocols, you will evaluate, triage and counsel patients dealing with diverse and often intricate concerns. Leveraging your exceptional patient focus, clinical nursing expertise and assessment skills, you will deliver high-quality and precise health advice and information within a contact care setting.

As the successful candidate, you will be applying your active listening, adept problem solving, and the ability to ask relevant questions to assist the caller. Your analytical and critical thinking abilities will be crucial in determining the best care for Albertans. You will thrive in an engaging environment helping a diverse range of patients in a respectful and sensitive manner.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide telephone triage services and health advice to callers across Alberta.
  • Evaluate, triage, and counsel patients with diverse and intricate concerns.
  • Deliver high‑quality, precise health advice and information in a contact care setting.
  • Apply active listening, problem‑solving, and relevant questioning to assist callers.
  • Determine the best care pathway for Albertans and connect them to appropriate services.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP).
  • If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the free courses: CRNA Medication Management – Chapters 1‑4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3‑5 years) recent experience as a registered nurse in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in a variety of clinical areas requiring high levels of independent and advanced assessment skills, strong critical thinking, and excellent probing skills.
  • Recent experience working with diverse client populations and clinical issues including emergency, pediatrics, maternal/child, medical/surgical, and critical care.
  • Ability to handle high call volume in a contact center and work comfortably with computer databases.
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM; intermediate computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience interacting with clients over the telephone.

Salary

  • Minimum Salary: $43.26 per hour
  • Maximum Salary: $59.21 per hour
