Medicine Hat College’s Advancement & Community Relations department is welcoming applications for a fill-time, regular Communications Specialist.
A little about the role:
This role is a part of the college’s Strategic Marketing & Design department. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and coordinate effective internal and external communications that advance the institution’s strategic priorities and inform stakeholders critical to the college’s goals. Responsibilities include creating written, photo, and video content, executing social media strategies, and ensuring alignment with the college’s brand. The role also supports media relations, crisis communications, web content development, and provides marketing support across departments to maintain timely, strategic, and effective messaging.
This role is ideal for someone seeking a dynamic team environment. You’ll have confidence and experience finding, telling, and sharing stories on our website, social media, and other platforms. Knowledge and proficiency in web design and related software, writing skills, graphic design, video and photo edited as well as the ability to gather images are all important.
Details:
As a successful applicant you'll have:
- A two-year diploma in a related field; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Three (3) years’ related work experience in public relations or marketing, working in a postsecondary or corporate environment.
- Knowledge and proficiency in web design and related software. Experience with Sitecore content management system is an asset.
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills to provide information and guidance in relation to communications.
- An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
Terms of Employment
**Hours:**35 hours per week - evening and weekend work may be required
Wage Rate:$28.28 per hour (Start Rate); $31.60 per hour (Job Rate
