In this Senior Accountant role, you will quickly become a key point of contact during the monthly close and throughout audit and compliance activities. You will have a real impact on how processes evolve and how information flows across teams. You will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer for Canada and you will also work closely with the Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and Consolidation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the preparation of monthly Group reporting packages, ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to IFRS and Schneider accounting policies
- Perform monthly financial statement variance analysis and partner with controlling teams to provide clear explanations of business drivers and trends
- Ensure timely resolution of accounting issues and escalate when appropriate
- Prepare, review and approve reconciliations for all intercompany and payroll related balance sheet accounts
- Obtain supporting documentation and ensure proper interpretation and accounting treatment for assigned accounts
- Act as process owner for related internal controls, ensuring design effectiveness, operating effectiveness and documentation integrity
- Develop, enhance and maintain documentation of business processes and internal controls in alignment with Schneider compliance requirements
- Contribute to control testing, remediation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare audit schedules, gather supporting documentation and respond to requests from internal and external auditors
- Coordinate with cross functional stakeholders to ensure timely submission, clarity and completeness
- Participate in or lead transformation initiatives focused on automation, standardization and simplification, with the objective of improving efficiency and achieving or exceeding financial KPIs
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting, reconciliations, payroll accounting and intercompany processes
- Support SAP S4 and HFM activities, system enhancements and the adoption of new tools or technologies
What You Bring
- Six years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit or related fields
- Strong technical proficiency in IFRS, internal controls and balance sheet governance
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, deadline driven environment
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity and accountability
Nice to have
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting matters into clear, business friendly language for senior stakeholders
- Experience with automation or process optimization tools and a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset
- Working knowledge of SAP S4 Hana and Hyperion Financial Management
- Exposure to or knowledge of Canadian payroll and related tax accounting
- CPA designation or equivalent considered an asset
The compensation range for this full-time position, which includes base pay and short-term incentive is $91,200 - $136,800 for candidates who are Ontario residents. Our salary ranges are determined by including roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
