About the role
We are looking for a Produce Manager to organize daily operations and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service. This role is responsible for ensuring that we always deliver the highest standards of product quality and merchandising. Our produce department is dedicated to supporting the local community by offering a diverse selection of fruits, vegetable and herbs carefully sourced from local farms.
The ideal candidate should have experience in retail management, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering a positive shopping experience. You will lead a team, implement merchandising strategies, and drive sales growth while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Additionally, you should be available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the produce department, ensuring efficient processes and high standards of service
- Lead a team of 10-15 employees, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Monitor inventory levels, manage stock rotation, and ensure timely replenishment of produce to make sure it has no defects
- Create and maintain optimal team member scheduling, ensuring target labor costs are met
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
- Uphold exceptional customer service standards by training staff to address customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure quality produce and favorable terms
- Analyze sales data and market trends to develop strategies for driving revenue growth and meeting financial targets
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to meet a flexible work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings
- Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and customers
- A proven team player and team-focused
- Strong problem solving and in-the-moment decision-making skills, process improvement, strategic planning, verbal communication, customer focus, management proficiency
- Skilled at prioritizing tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Able to function well in a high-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a post-secondary program related to hospitality, business or retail management is preferred
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in retail or produce management
- Experience operating a point-of-sale systems
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand during scheduled shift, withstand repetitive walking, reaching, and bending for long periods of time
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
