This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Arkledun Supportive Housing.

Role Description

The Arkledun Supportive Housing program provides low-barrier permanent supportive housing to cis women, trans and non-binary individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness in the community. The program will offer a hospitable and respectful environment for people who face significant personal and structural barriers to accessing and maintaining housing. Commitment to the provision of cultural safety and Trans/Gender positive space is prioritized. Arkledun will operate within a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive framework and firmly rooted in harm reduction principles.

  • Have a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of responsibility, availability adaptability, quality, and dignity
  • Ability to work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to provide service in a dignified, culturally competent and respectful manner that reflects the charism of Good Shepherd
  • Assist participants in constructive and therapeutic activities that support their goals, as well as provide education and engagement on activities including nutrition, hygiene, life skills, and money management
  • Assist residents to develop and utilize conflict resolution skills through effective role modelling and mentorship
  • Be vital in assisting residents in establishing and maintaining relationships with others, through the provision of individual and/or group social and recreational programming
  • Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

Qualifications

  • We are seeking a consumer/survivor of the homelessness, mental health, and/or addictions system
  • Provide a demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience to support and enhance service that is culturally safe and Trans/Gender positive
  • Understands and utilizes intersectional feminist, client-directed, anti-oppression/anti-racism frameworks with a thorough understanding of a range of issues impacting women, trans and non-binary individuals including homelessness, trauma, poverty, mental illness and substance use/abuse
  • Possess the knowledge and ability to work within a Harm Reduction framework
  • Must have a flexible a schedule
  • Good Shepherd encourages individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply

  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
