Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 4:00p.m. -12:30 a.m. Microbiologist 1 - (PCR) – Post Inc. Dept., Food Microbiology Lab
- Primary role is PCR area: setting up various rapid methods, recording and releasing results as well as approvals and validations within the LIMS system.
- Results orientated to produce high quality defensible analytical data, safely and on time by following applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Following specific reporting requirements for specific clients and effectively communicating to appropriate internal groups.
- Coordinates the priority organization and flow of samples and/or materials.
- Gains full knowledge with respect to performing analytical procedures and related quality control techniques.
- Participates in building a strong team of analytical professionals.
- Communicating with data entry, PMs, samples inspection, archiving and other departments as well as external contacts clearly and promptly.
- Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations.
- Monitor/maintain adequate supply of media and other chemicals.
- Ensure all micro QA logbooks are followed and up to date.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed for analyses and scope.
- Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within expected TAT requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the lab supervisors, including other areas of the lab
YOUR PROFILE Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 4:00p.m. -12:30 a.m.
- Demonstrated success in the role of a Laboratory Technician.
- Post secondary school education and equivalent experience.
- Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft office.
- Dynamic, Energetic, motivated, motivated, positive outlook, and Can-Do attitude.
- Detailed understanding of laboratory information systems and overall processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good record keeping skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Organized with a professional attitude and excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to work afternoon shifts & weekends; all candidates must be flexible to any shift change & overtime
Compensation: $21 CAD per hour
