Position: Senior Accountant Division: Finance Department
Location: 360 Applewood Cres Date: November 2025
Reports to: Financial Reporting Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will support core accounting functions while also contributing to the enhancement of financial reporting processes. This role reflects a balanced focus between traditional Senior Accountant responsibilities (month-end clos, financial reporting, data accuracy) and ongoing involvement in CPM/ Planful system development and maintenance. This position is ideal for an individual who is detail-oriented, technologically savvy, and passionate about improving financial processes and data-driven decision-making.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Health and Safety (Mandatory)
- Ensure cleanliness of working area.
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
Technical/Function (if applicable)
CPM System Management & Reporting Development
- Utilize planful to automate financial and non-financial reporting scorecards, reducing manual data gathering for General Managers and Plant Managers.
- Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and troubleshooting within Planful to ensure accurate and timely system performance.
- Collaborate with Finance leadership to enhance reporting structures and workflow automations within the CPM environment.
Financial Close & Reporting
- Support the end-to-end process from month-end close through to reporting results to divisional management and senior business leadership.
- Consolidate and combine financial data from multiple sources into comprehensive reports using Planful automations.
- Apply strong knowledge of GAAP to ensure accuracy and consistency in all financial reporting outputs.
Data integrity & Accuracy
- Ensure the data feeding into Planful is complete, accurate, and consistent across sources.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial or operational data used in reporting scorecards.
Process Improvement & System Evolution
- Contribute to the ongoing transition of the role from blended Senior Accountant duties to a future state focused primarily on CPM development and maintenance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve reporting speed, accuracy and automation leveraging Planful’s capabilities.
Internal/External Customer Service
Support to Divisional & Corporate Stakeholders
- Provide responsive, collaborative, and customer service orientated support to several TORO divisions.
- Ensure stakeholders have access to accurate and timely reporting that supports informed decision-making.
- Communicate financial results and reporting outputs clearly and professionally to managers and leadership.
Reporting, Analysis & Insights
- Assist divisional teams and managers in understanding and leveraging Planful-generated reports and scorecards.
- Consolidate and analyze financial results, highlighting trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Support compliance reporting, internal audits, and KPIs used for performance monitoring and strategic planning.
Administration
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to reporting processes, Planful workflows, and month-end reporting procedures.
- Ensure reporting practices and system usage are well documented to support continuity and future development of the CPM function.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A CPA designation (or progress towards one) is considered an asset but not required.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance reporting, or financial planning.
- Experience using CPM systems (Plan, Oracle, Prophix, or Workday) is an asset but not required.
- Experience preparing financial and non-financial reporting package, budgeting, forecasting, and supporting month-end close.
SKILLS
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Ability to analyze, combine, and interpret financial data from multiple sources.
- Strong aptitude for working with financial systems and CPM tools.
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, customer-service mindset.
- Ability to work on-site Monday to Friday in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to accuracy and consistency.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
