GIS Systems Tester / QA Specialist
About the role
Our client is seeking a Senior GIS Systems Tester / QA Specialist to support a major upgrade of business-critical geospatial applications from legacy Geocortex technology to the next-generation VertiGIS platform.
The successful candidate will evaluate upgraded GIS infrastructure and applications, ensuring existing functionality is preserved while improving system performance, security, accessibility, integration, and overall user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data
Execute functional, non-functional, integration, system, performance, load, stress, and regression testing
Test upgraded GIS infrastructure and VertiGIS-based applications
Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing activities
Validate integrations with enterprise GIS data, geoprocessing services, portals, and related systems
Identify, document, track, and communicate defects and testing results
Collaborate with testing leads, technical leads, developers, business analysts, project managers, and business stakeholders
Provide recommendations regarding testing tools, resources, methodologies, and quality assurance practices
Ensure solutions comply with GO-ITS standards, AODA requirements, and service-delivery expectations
Mandatory Requirements
Strong experience testing Esri-based GIS applications and projects
Hands-on Experience With Technologies Such As
ArcMap
ArcGIS Pro SDK
ArcObjects
File Geodatabases
ArcGIS Portal
ArcGIS Online
Experience supporting IT infrastructure modernization, upgrade, or maintenance projects
Technical experience with VBA, .NET, C++, C#, and software development kits
Experience developing and executing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts
Experience with functional, integration, system, performance, load, stress, and User Acceptance Testing
Experience testing both graphical and non-graphical systems
Knowledge of automated testing tools and version-control systems
Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and the Systems Development Life Cycle
Communication and Collaboration
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Experience working with business stakeholders, developers, business analysts, testing teams, and project managers
Ability to resolve issues, negotiate project direction, and build stakeholder consensus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and organizational skills
Additional Assets
Ontario Public Sector experience
Knowledge of GO-ITS standards and project-gating processes
Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf applications
Experience developing automated test scripts
Understanding of GIS infrastructure and object-oriented solution-testing methods
Knowledge of AODA standards and accessibility testing
Experience with information-management principles and practices
