About the role
The Warehouse Supervisor plays a key role in the day-to-day success of warehouse operations. Working closely with the Warehouse Manager, this position helps lead, organize, and optimize all aspects of shipping, receiving, storage, inventory control, and distribution.
This is a hands-on leadership role that balances operational oversight with team support. The Warehouse Supervisor ensures that processes run efficiently, team members are set up for success, and all work is completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with company standards and applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, pick/pack, hardware, door pre-hang, quality assurance, inventory control, and overall floor productivity.
- Plan schedules and assign tasks to ensure efficient workflow and appropriate staffing levels.
- Coordinate order picking and packing to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery commitments.
- Support the loading of trucks and ensure compliance with delivery schedules.
- Map and optimize daily delivery routes to maximize efficiency and control costs.
- Verify incoming and outgoing materials against work orders and specifications.
- Monitor equipment condition and ensure proper maintenance and safe usage.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve operational challenges.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, productivity, and quality.
- Assist in developing and refining warehouse procedures and best practices.
- Support special projects and operational initiatives as assigned.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Support the Warehouse Manager in setting, tracking, and achieving departmental goals and KPIs.
- Provide clear direction, training, and ongoing coaching to warehouse team members.
- Lead by example; actively working alongside the team when needed.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, priorities, and safety topics.
- Assess training needs and coordinate skill development opportunities.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure consistent adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
Health & Safety
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Oversee safety training for team members and ensure proper documentation.
- Support incident and near-miss reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee activities.
- Assist in early and safe return-to-work programs in collaboration with HR.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma is preferred.
- Health & Safety Courses/Training: WHMIS, Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness Training (HSAT), Basic Supervisory Training.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment
- Experience in shipping, receiving, or delivery operations is preferred
- Industry experience in construction, manufacturing, carpentry, or related fields is an asset
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract is an asset
Physical Requirements
This role requires regular physical activity, including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
- Bending, reaching, and climbing ladders or step stools
- Pushing and pulling carts or materials
- Maintaining balance while handling products
- Occasional sitting and computer use
- Manual dexterity and repetitive hand movements
