About the role
Job Summary:
The Mail and Supply Distribution Clerk is responsible for receiving and distributing incoming mail and processing of outgoing mail and performs general physical activities in order to distribute and deliver incoming and outgoing supplies and packages to individual departments within CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB).
Primary responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Providing central mail processing and distribution services for all department within CCMB.
- Loading, unloading, sorting and moving shipments by hand or using material handling equipment.
- Verifying, accepting, counting, logging, and distributing all incoming and outgoing goods and packages adhering to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices.
The incumbent is required to participate in the accomplishment of organizational goals and departmental objectives as established by the department. This position requires maintaining patient confidentiality/privacy at all times according to CCMB policy, and must follow information and confidentiality guidelines at all times.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School (Grade 12) Diploma from an accredited educational institution or equivalent
Experience
- 2 years of related experience, preferably in a health care environment
- Health information management systems computer experience
- Previous experience with receiving, storage, and distribution of supplies and packages
- Physically able to perform the essential duties of the job and lifting up to 50 lbs
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organization, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function independently within the roles scope of responsibility.
- Ability to function as a “positive” team member in a multidisciplinary setting
Preferred
- Familiarity with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Related courses in supply handling, distribution and inventory
- Experience in inventory records and control
- Previous experience working or volunteering in a healthcare setting
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Physically able to perform the essential duties of the job and including lifting up to 20lbs (Screening) or up to 50 lbs (Environment)
- Physical ability to tolerate constant standing, walking, bending, and heavy lifting which includes repetitive lifting and pushing or pulling of boxes from floor to shelving (50lbs) across carpets on and off elevators and up and down ramps is required
- Repetitive hand, arm and shoulder motions required and as well as long periods of standing
- May be required to handle dangerous goods in accordance with WHMIS regulations
- May be required to work in cramped conditions where carrying items over obstacles and twisting motions are necessary
- Exposure to temperature variations

- Must have satisfactory employment record
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Ability to speak French
