About the role
Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Manager, Independent Retail Operations on a permanent basis on our Consumer Products team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and can be based anywhere in Western Canada. This position requires extensive travel within Western Canada up to 30%.
This role provides strategic leadership to Operations Advisors and Corporate Operations teams across Western Canada, driving profitability, operational excellence, and brand alignment. By fostering consultative sales and supporting independent retailers, you’ll lead initiatives that grow business, enhance community impact, and strengthen The Grocery People (TGP) brand through innovative programs, promotions, and training.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of Operations Advisors and Corporate Operations Managers to drive growth and sustainability in independent retail.
- Support strategic business planning by guiding financial analysis, performance evaluation, and opportunity prioritization for both independent and corporate locations.
- Oversee program development and rollout, ensuring tools, promotions, and standards align with operational realities and deliver measurable results.
- Foster strong client relationships through direct engagement, providing consultative support and promoting TGP programs and retail best practices.
- Drive operational excellence by setting performance standards, mentoring teams, and ensuring compliance with brand, safety, and execution expectations.
Who you’ll work with:
The Team: You will work closely with other Operations Managers, will have a team of Senior Retail Operations Advisors and Corporate Operations Managers reporting into you, and will report into the Director, Independent Business. This team strives to cultivate a culture that is collaborative, results-oriented, and client centric.
The Customers: You will demonstrate customer focus and business acumen while supporting our TGP retails.

We help feed Western Canada by providing fresh groceries and wholesale solutions to independent retail stores, restaurants and other food establishments in communities large and small.
Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Retail Operations Advisory and:
- Have 8+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience in the grocery or food wholesale/retail industry. Must have demonstrated experiencing leading or developing teams. Experience working with independent retail grocers would be considered an asset.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in commerce/business (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
