The Monitored Care unit at Eagle Ridge is a unique 9 bed unit that serves the acute needs of the Tri- Cities. MCU monitors and supports the cardiac and medical patients that require specialized care. Utilizing the skills of the high acuity nurse, you are responsible for caring for patients needing acute interventions and cardiac monitoring. As a vital member of the code team, you respond to a variety of patients and support in patient transfers to regional sites.

Eagle Ridge Hospital is a 168-bed hospital in Port Moody, British Columbia, serving the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. The hospital offers medical, surgical, and cardiac programs, as well as 24/7 emergency services with over 53,000 visits annually.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of applicable post graduate course work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff and members of the interprofessional care team using verbal, written and electronic communication means.
