VICE PRESIDENT, REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
TORONTO
We are looking for a Vice President, Regulatory Compliance to design and build our regulatory compliance program. You will create a modern, business-friendly compliance framework that keeps us ahead of regulatory expectations while enabling growth, not slowing it down. If you thrive in entrepreneurial environments, love turning complex regulatory challenges into practical business solutions, and want to be a key player in shaping how a nimble insurer operates, this is the role for you.
Accountabilities include:
- Design, implement, and continuously evolve a practical, scalable regulatory compliance framework tailored to OSFI requirements and the unique needs of a rapidly growing specialty P&C insurance company.
- Embed compliance into our business processes so it becomes an enabler of growth rather than a barrier.
- Act as a trusted business partner - providing clear, solutions-oriented guidance to underwriting, operations, product, technology, and executive teams.
- Proactively identify regulatory risks and compliance gaps, then develop and execute practical remediation plans.
- Lead our privacy program (PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation), including privacy impact assessments, data governance, breach response, and client-facing privacy matters.
- Monitor regulatory developments (OSFI, FCAC, provincial regulators, privacy commissioners) and translate changes into actionable business strategies.
- Prepare for and manage OSFI examinations, regulatory reporting, and stakeholder interactions with confidence and credibility.
- Champion a culture of compliance awareness across the organization through training, communication, and practical tools.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive regulatory compliance experience in the Canadian insurance or financial services sector, with direct exposure to OSFI-regulated entities.
- Proven success building or significantly enhancing a compliance framework in a fast-paced or entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience with privacy matters (PIPEDA, provincial privacy laws, data protection, and breach response).
- Strong business acumen - you think like an operator first and a regulator second.
- Natural problem-solver and solutions-oriented mindset; you excel at simplifying complexity and finding practical paths forward.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels, from frontline staff to Executive Management.
- Self-starter who is energized by ambiguity and the opportunity to create structure where none exists.
- Professional designation (e.g., CRCP, CIPP/C, or equivalent) and/or law degree is a strong asset.
Location:
- Downtown Toronto: Hybrid - 4 days per week in office
Compensation:
- The expected compensation in this position is within the range of $160,000 - $200,000
