What do you offer? The National Capital Region YMCA Youth Intervention Programs provide targeted support to young people facing barriers to academic success, personal development, and social inclusion. These programs work with youth experiencing recurring or situational challenges at school, at home, or in the community, with the goal of strengthening resilience, fostering positive decision-making, and promoting long-term success. The portfolio currently includes established initiatives such as Back on Track and the Youth Education Support Program, as well as complementary initiatives such as mentorship opportunities, after-school supports, and community-based intervention projects. Together, these programs offer a continuum of services that address both immediate needs and longer-term developmental goals for youth.
The Manager of Youth Intervention Programs will be responsible for the overall management, supervision, and evaluation of multiple youth-focused initiatives across the Ottawa region. This includes overseeing program delivery, supervising and supporting youth workers and other staff, and ensuring program fidelity to national and regional standards. The Manager will also maintain and expand a wide network of partnerships with schools, school boards, community agencies, and other stakeholders that are essential to the success of the programs.
Some Of The Tasks Of This Position Include
- Managing and overseeing multiple youth intervention programs, including Back on Track, the Youth Education Support Program, and other initiatives as assigned.
- Supervising, supporting and mentoring program staff and volunteers.
- Establishing, monitoring and evaluating program procedures and services to ensure objectives are met.
- Overseeing goal-setting with participants and ensuring appropriate follow-ups and after-care supports are provided.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with schools, school boards, community partners, institutional stakeholders and funders.
- Preparing timely program and financial reports in accordance with funder and partner requirements.

The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following Education
- University degree in youth work, social work, education, psychology, or a related field
Language
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Other languages are an asset
Experience, Skills And Abilities
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in youth intervention, performance management or related leadership roles
- Proven experience in staff supervision, including recruitment, training, performance management and support of front-line youth workers and volunteers
- Demonstrated leadership, high level of judgment and ability to manage complex situations with professionalism
- Strong knowledge of issues affecting youth and best practices in intervention, mentorship, restorative approaches and educational support
- Experience in curriculum development, facilitation, and delivery of youth-focused programming
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications relevant to program administration
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Applicants must have reliable access to a vehicle.
- A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
