Position Summary:

  • UCAs will be required to provide in-person demonstrations and lead small group discussions in the anatomy laboratory using prosections, anatomical models, and other media (e.g., medical images).
  • UCAs may also be asked to participate in the creation of new relevant laboratory activities.
  • UCAs will be expected to participate in group meetings to prepare the labs and to reinforce the Anatomy Lab Code of Conduct during all sessions. Other duties will be discussed as required.
  • UCAs will be responsible for helping with the lab set up, including but not limited to retrieving relevant specimens to present to their small groups, and upon lab completion, to return specimens to their assigned storage space and thoroughly clean their stations.

Qualifications:

  • Must have previously taken and passed ANAT214 or an equivalent course (e.g., ANAT316).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach human anatomy.
  • Prior role as a UCA for 214 or an equivalent course, and/or prior experience teaching in dissection- or prosection-based cadaveric laboratories is considered a strong asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of the head and neck, thoracic, abdominal, and pelvic anatomy is required.
  • Must be able to lead lab demonstrations to groups of 10-12 students on all material pertaining to a specific lab, emphasizing functional and clinical anatomy; must have a good understanding of surface anatomy, prosection and medical imaging.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
