The Job

If so, join the Inspectorate of Policing, Ministry of the Solicitor General, in a position where you will develop research requirements and methodologies related to monitoring and reporting on policing in Ontario, including performance and compliance with the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 (CSPA).
The Ministry
The Ministry of the Solicitor General is responsible for the safety and security of communities across Ontario through effective policing, correctional services and emergency services programs. The ministry promotes policing excellence by communicating with and providing advice to the police community, as well as through training, developing professional standards and establishing new programs. The Ontario Provincial Police provides front-line policing services to more than 400 municipal and First Nations communities. The ministry is also responsible for maintaining effective and efficient correctional programs that create an environment where offenders are better able to return to the community and make positive contributions to society. Through the work of the Office of the Chief Coroner, Office of the Fire Marshal, Centre of Forensic Sciences and Emergency Management Ontario, the ministry seeks to minimize or eliminate hazards to people and property.
The Division
The Inspectorate of Policing (IOP) is a division within the Ministry of the Solicitor General that will monitor, advise, conduct inspections and investigate complaints with respect to the delivery of policing and compliance with the Community Safety and Policing Act and its regulations, as well as investigate complaints related to police services board member misconduct..
About the job
In this role, you will:
- Research various sources of information to prepare research reports and recommendations
- Identify and assess research requirements and develop study design and methodologies
- Conduct environmental scans and research to support program priorities
- Develop stakeholder consultation and partnerships
- Participate in the development of strategic direction
- Prepare a range of analyses and communication material
- Negotiate and mediate contentious research, monitoring and reporting issues
What you bring to the team
Research, Analytical and Project Management Skills:
You have:
- knowledge of principles and methods of quantitative and qualitative research, evaluation, and analysis methodologies.
- project management and team leadership skills to provide project planning and leadership on concurrent projects and to manage deadlines and competing priorities.

- the ability to process information from a range of sources.

Communication Skills:

- oral communication skills to conduct meetings, deliver presentations and provide correspondence.
- written communication skills to prepare reports, briefing materials and data analysis utilizing statistical computer software.
Technical Knowledge:
You understand:
- policy, legislation, funding processes, policy and search tools, methodology and techniques to provide project leadership in the development and evaluation of policies and programs.
