Your Opportunity
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will join the Red Deer Home Care Allied Health Team and be providing therapeutic recreation services to Home Care clients in the city of Red Deer. You will be completing assessments and providing personalized interventions to improve, maintain and/or prevent decline in function and well-being for the clients you serve. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team and will be expected to collaborate and coordinate care, as needed. In this role you may also have the opportunity to foster and maintain community connections and may participate in the creation and facilitation of group programming, as appropriate. You will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Recreation Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas. Red Deer is located in Central Alberta near the midpoint of the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor and is surrounded by Red Deer County. The Red Deer area has one of the fastest growing economies in North America and is consistently ranked as a prime location for doing business. This economic growth has created many job opportunities in the region. Red Deer is home to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum as well as the Sunnybrook Farm Museum, Fort Normandeau (located on the banks of the Red Deer River), the Kerry Wood Nature Centre, and the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery. Description
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Required Qualifications
Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
Additional Required Qualifications
Membership with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association. Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required.
Preferred Qualifications
Class 4 License preferred.
