What You'll Do
- Prepare, or assist Senior Associate-in-charge with, the development of all system engineering concepts (e.g. design brief) and concept report. Review and manage the design in terms of construction budgets.
- Perform, or arrange for, reviews of existing installation and interpret/manage the impact on the project.
- Prepare or assist with all calculations and select all equipment. May assign tasks to project manager, designer and BIM Technician where appropriate.
- Responsible for design and design coordination for IMIT systems including wired and wireless telecommunication systems, structured cabling, integrated physical security systems, audiovisual, nurse call, paging and real time locating systems.
- Develop design documentation such as floor plans, risers, system architecture, equipment selection and technical specifications. May assign tasks to designer and Revit/CAD Technician where appropriate; however, is fully capable of performing tasks.
- Ensure proper coordination of document with the internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines).
- Responsible for reviewing all deliverables for the project including reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications. Review for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by internal total quality management.
- Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality management.
- Develop and/or enhance project management processes and procedures to improve overall efficiency.
- Coordinate with the contract administration team regarding drawing reviews, proper set up of contract administration process and site activities.
- Prepare all change notices or review change notices issued by contract administration team.
- Responsible for ensuring tasks are completed both accurately and with the assigned hours/fee.
- Respond to both technical and financial queries related to the project.
- Oversee non-technical aspects of all disciplines for the project.
- Support the process of accounts receivable.
- Prepare and continually monitor a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including hours to perform tasks and critical data required for performance.
- Organize and attend meetings including client meetings.
- Actively seeks opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
- Work with the Business Development and Proposals team to respond to proposals. Assist in writing and submission of RFPs.
- Assist the Senior Associate-in-charge with human resources related activities including recruitment and selection, employee development, performance appraisals and employee relations.
Who You Are
- Eight or more years of project engineering experience in the telecommunications, security or audiovisual field, with preference in security experience.
- P. Eng., RCDD, PSP, CTS, CTS-D, MCSE, CCIE Certifications are an asset.
- Fully understand Codes and Standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having jurisdiction.
- Fully understand (construction) project procurement methodologies and is able to recommend or apply such method for the project
- Knowledgeable about industry standards including BISCI, EIA/TIA and CSA.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
- Possess sound communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
- Proven experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
- Deliver professional presentations and chair meetings with clients and at industry events.
- Ability to develop lasting relationships with clients that foster strong client ties.
