About the role
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure, Data, and Security, the Lead, IT Infrastructure provides technical knowledge and expertise for the Library's IT infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability. Under the direction of the Director, Infrastructure, Data, and Security, this position oversees core systems including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 tools, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, domain controllers, Fortinet network and security products, and private cloud environments (Broadcom and Nutanix). The Lead, IT Infrastructure collaborates with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure strategies with business objectives and ensures compliance with industry best practices.
Responsibilities and Activities
Infrastructure and Network Development
Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments to design solutions in line with industry best practice and provide a third-line point of escalation for appropriate global infrastructure solutions.
Enterprise Infrastructure Modernization
Deliver digital solution architecture services as assigned, preparing conceptual and logical architecture diagrams to align technical direction and document future-state architectures.
Cloud Architecture
Oversee internal and external cloud architectural components (e.g., networks, servers, storage, and virtualization applications) and how these fit into cloud architecture, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and accuracy.
Information Security
Support implementation of required security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems.
Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be"
Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.
Business Requirements Identification
Elicit complex business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
Operational Compliance
Identify shortcomings in compliance processes, systems, and procedures, and develop ad hoc solutions to problems within an assigned unit or discipline.
Personal Capability Building
Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or other related field.
- Completed certifications in Azure Administrator and Azure Solutions Architects.
- Substantial work experience together with comprehensive job-related experience in IT Infrastructure management, including cloud and on-premises environments. (Over 5 years).
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, Active Directory, and network security.
- Experience with Fortinet products and private cloud platforms e.g. Broadcom and Nutanix.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence internal stakeholders.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Familiar with ITIL practices and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Familiar with agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Ability to translate complex data concepts into business-friendly language.
