2026 Gypsy Moth Survey Team
The Roscommon County Spongy Moth Program is accepting applications for Gypsy Moth Surveyors.
Interested in the environment, biology and your community? This is a great opportunity for seasonal, outdoor work that offers a chance to learn more about the invasive spongy moth (formerly gypsy moth).
Surveyors will travel throughout Roscommon County inspecting for spongy moth egg masses. As members of this community forestry management program, you will learn hands-on environmental science and your work will impact the future of Roscommon County forests. You will work with a team, talking with landowners and gathering data in an outdoor environment.
Assignments last a minimum of eight weeks and may possibly run into December.
Pay begins at $15.65 per hour, with an increase for returning crew members. Mileage reimbursement provided.
Interviews will begin August 24, 2026 and training will begin the week of September 1.
