We are actively seeking a Wells Lead to join our team at our Edam & Meota East Facilities. The Wells Lead will assist the Senior Foreman in day-to-day troubleshooting tasks for the Wells facilities and implementing Strathcona’s safety program. The candidate will assist field staff with maintenance activities, mentoring staff during the completion of their training and assisting with the implementation of Strathcona’s Management of Change Program. The Wells Lead’s primary responsibility is for the operations of the SAGD well pads, and disposal well pad and will also be required to provide support to the SAGD facilities during times when the Steam Chief and Operations Specialist are on days off or holidays.
Essential Functions:
- Support Strathcona’s Safety Management Plan, tasks include; collaborating with vendors to ensure they are following Strathcona’s HSE practices, closeout of Hazard IDs, supporting HSE personnel during incident investigations, and performing regular site inspections.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Group to manage the site Asset’s Integrity Management Program, this includes participating in weekly work order meetings as well as scope defining meetings for preventive maintenance programs.
- Support the coordination of well servicing/drilling activities i.e. lease turnover documentation, coordination of surface equipment preparation for well servicing activities.
- Provide input to Management of Change and Development Projects to optimize plant efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations.
- Provide input for budget forecasting and plant budget management.
- Provide input into the development of staff as per the operations training program.
- Opportunity for input into the design, construction and implementation of future projects.
- Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.
- Ability to provide oversight, guidance, and training to employees.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Minimum 7 years of SAGD operations experience in thermal heavy oil with strong knowledge of Rotoflex pumping units and ESP operations.
- Third Class Power Engineering Certification and High School Diploma.
- Proven supervisory experience with leadership, mentorship, and interpersonal skills; able to multi-task, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative on improvements.
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental best practices; conducts business professionally, ethically, and with community responsibility.
- Effective written communication skills, including preparing correspondence, proposals, and procedures.
- Familiar with facility drawings and equipment specifications; experience in Well Servicing and Workover activities is an asset.
- Self-motivated, open-minded, results-driven, and a strong team player.
Work Environment:
- 7-on/7-off schedule, working 12-hour day shifts only. This includes coverage on weekends, holidays, and as needed to support plant operations.
- Position based in a plant setting.
- Candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to the North Battleford area.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract required.
