PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (FULL TIME, On-Site, in CAPE TOWN)
We’re looking to hire a talented and driven Product Development Engineer.
So what kind of person are we looking for?
Hands on as well as theoretical on problem solving
An open minded, positive and enthusiastic person. Great communication and people skills. Pushes boundaries, excited about learning new skills etc.
Work well under Head Designer. Be a team player
Knowledge and understanding of tools, machinery and processes.
Respond well to direction and feedback
The ability to take initiative and be self motivated A disciplined and focused perfectionist when it come to getting things done right Structured and organized
Here are some of the tasks that this role will entail
3D Modeling and Technical drawing Research technical solutions for various problems Design workflows for production of products Compile training documents for production team Training production team Design production jigs for product manufacturing Designing new products based on supplied briefs Finding and evaluating new suppliers for various components Visiting suppliers Identifying tooling/equipment needs and sourcing those tools Prototyping new products 3D printing prototype components Knowledge of CNC machining, conventional lathe and milling machines, etc.
Working closely with a tool maker to manufacture prototypes and jigs
Design packaging and displays for new products Forecasting and obtaining quotes for components Advise production team regarding production methods/suitability for custom jobs Compile and oversee QC (Quality Control) criteria Advise and oversee general problem solving in workshop/showroom spaces Design and streamline production infrastructure Maintain and organize workshop space. Research new materials and processes.
You will need to have some qualifications in the following fields
Mechanical Engineering
Industrial Design
You will need to be proficient in the following programs
Solidworks
CAD/CAM Software Excel Google sheets
