SUMMARY: The position of Material Cutter this position takes on the responsibility of controlling all inventory levels of steel including receiving, cutting and distribution.

Shift time: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing steel inventory levels and reporting all shortages to Purchasing.
  • Receiving all Steel using lifting devices and carts to move steel. This includes entering the data into Visibility and loading and unloading shipments using the lift truck.
  • Cutting material, based upon cutting lists issued by Planning Department.
  • Cutting material, based upon requisitions issued by Lead Hands and Supervisors.
  • Daily material Kitting procedure.
  • Issuing Steel to Paget 1 based upon Schedule.
  • Daily cycle counting of Steel.
  • Maintaining and issuing appropriate paperwork through Visibility.
  • Working is a safe manner
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned at the manager’s discretion

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Previous knowledge of using saws an asset.
  • Lift Truck operation experience required. Ability to operate a motorized overhead crane.
  • Familiarity with computers and their operations is required. Ie Microsoft office.
  • Previous use of ERP systems an asset.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to multi task is essential.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work without close supervision in a team environment

  • Ability to manipulate forklift, crane and cart to move steel around.
  • Standing and operating equipment for 8 hrs plus per day
