What We’re Looking For
The People and Culture Manager will play a key role in fostering an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing workplace. This position is accountable for the delivery of core people initiatives, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, organizational development, and culture-building programs. Reporting to the Co-Presidents, the ideal candidate will be a strategic partner and trusted advisor to leaders, while also being hands-on in driving day-to-day HR operations that align with our organizational goals and values which include Passion, Integrity, and Excellence.
This is a full-time, in office, position which will require the successful candidate to live in the Bow Valley region.
As Cudmore Group’s People and Culture Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
Strategic People & Culture Leadership
- Partner with leadership to develop and implement people strategies that support business objectives.
- Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives across the organization.
- Monitor workforce trends and recommend proactive talent and culture solutions.
Talent Acquisition & Retention
- Lead and participate in the full-cycle recruitment process, ensuring best practices and a positive candidate experience are upheld.
- Lead and support onboarding programs that set new hires up for success.
- Develop and implement retention strategies to reduce turnover and strengthen engagement.
Performance & Development
- Oversee performance management processes and provide management support, ensuring they are fair, consistent, and aligned with organizational goals.
- Design and facilitate learning and development initiatives that support employee growth and leadership capability.
- Provide coaching to managers on effective people leadership practices.
Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience
- Drive initiatives that promote a positive, values-driven organizational culture.
- Lead employee engagement surveys, analyze feedback, and co-create action plans.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees, ensuring issues are addressed with empathy and fairness.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate HR records, data, and reporting.
- Manage employee relations issues with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Champion Health & Safety programs, including store/warehouse inspections and report findings, overseeing H&S training programs.
This is a hands-on People and Culture Manager role. We are looking for someone who can help shape our HR strategy while also actively driving execution in a dynamic and growing environment.
What You’ll Bring
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with exposure to all major functions of HR.
- Experience with leadership responsibility preferred.
Education
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- CPHR Designation or Candidacy preferred.
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of cross-provincial employment legislation, human rights, privacy/FOIP requirements, and other employment-related legislation and best practices.
- Experienced in developing HR policies and programs.
- Full-cycle recruitment experience; knowledge of managing employees on temporary work permits, or similar, is considered an asset.
- Proven track record of fostering inclusive, collaborative workplace cultures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experienced in employee relations and conflict resolution practices.
- Strong collaboration, relationship-building, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to see the big picture and balance strategic thinking with managing detailed hands-on execution.
- Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to understand and respond to employee needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with care and integrity.
