THE POSITION Keyera is seeking a highly organized and experienced Turnaround Coordinator to lead the planning, scheduling, and coordination of major turnarounds and outages. This role is central to ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of all turnaround activities, working closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, contractors, and project teams.
This is a contract opportunity , and the successful candidate will be engaged as a contingent worker through one of Keyera’s approved partners, working onsite at the Simonette facility near Valleyview Alberta.
Responsibilities Safety & Compliance
- Champion a culture of safety throughout all turnaround phases.
- Ensure all work is planned and executed in compliance with regulatory, environmental, and internal standards.
Turnaround Planning & Coordination
- Lead end-to-end planning and coordination of turnaround events, ensuring all functions (operations, maintenance, engineering, projects, and supply chain) are fully aligned.
- Lead progress meetings, and track planning milestones to ensure schedule and budget compliance.
Scheduling & Integration
- Develop and manage detailed turnaround schedules (Primavera P6 preferred), integrating maintenance, inspection, capital projects, and contractor activities.
- Identify and monitor critical path activities, dependencies, and schedule risks; recommend adjustments to mitigate delays.
Job Package Development
- Oversee the creation and review of detailed job packages including scope of work, labor, materials, equipment, tools, permits, QA/QC, and safety plans.
- Ensure packages meet company standards and are delivered on schedule to support field execution.
Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure timely sourcing and delivery of materials, services, and equipment.
- Validate material availability, monitor long lead items, and align procurement timelines with turnaround schedules.
- Support contractor onboarding, service agreements, and invoice reconciliation processes in coordination with Supply Chain.
Outage & Project Support
- Coordinate planned outages and integrate emergent work as needed, applying turnaround planning best practices to non-turnaround events.
- Ensure project scopes are reviewed, approved, and integrated into the overall turnaround plan without disruption to core operations.
Cost & Resource Management
- Assist in developing turnaround budgets; monitor costs throughout the event lifecycle.
- Align labor and equipment resources with schedule needs; support variance analysis and reporting.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in turnaround planning, coordination, or project controls within the oil and gas industry (midstream preferred).
- Strong knowledge of maintenance workflows, planning tools, and scheduling software (Primavera P6, Maximo required).
- Proven experience in developing job packages and integrating multiple scopes into a master schedule.
- Understanding of supply chain processes including procurement, materials management, and contractor engagement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or engineering degree preferred.
