General Purpose of this Job Under the guidance of the Engineering Quality Manager, the Intern Quality Controller learns to develop designs by creating, revising and finalizing drawings of "Best For Project" permanent mine facility infrastructure and temporary sinking gear.

The Intern Quality Controller will also participate and assist with the development and implementation of Inspection and test Plans, review of vendor document submittals, tracking of procured equipment and occasional in shop review of fabricated items.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Health and Safety

  • Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation.
  • Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report the same to the Health and Safety Department.
  • Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met by the appropriate design and use of technology.
  • Participate in department safety huddles and incident imaging

General Duties And Responsibilities This description lists the core responsibilities and duties of the position.

  • Under the direction of the Quality Manager or designate and in coordination with the Engineer of Record, confirm project Equipment, Fabrication and On-Site Construction Quality requirements, and in collaboration with the Project Manager, develop the project Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Assist with closeout documentation gathering, storage and review.
  • Assist with fabrication shop and site equipment reviews, and issue review reports, complete with observations and recommendations. As necessary, engage the Engineer-of-Record for the recommendations.
  • Use and maintain knowledge of the latest codes, standards, regulations, mine regulations.
  • Vendor drawing reviews
  • Material take-offs

Additional duties deemed to be within the incumbent's capabilities, on an as-required basis, may be assigned by management.

  • Support design drafting and 3D modelling for permanent and temporary works related to the construction of underground mine shafts, facilities and related infrastructure and equipment for clients and Cementation Operations.
  • Follow company/departmental design and drafting procedures in the development of drawings.
  • Participate in group meetings and discussions.
  • Work within a project team to coordinate and support drafting efforts.
  • Maintain a training program for software proficiency usage
  • Back drafting and CADD support

Education And Experience

  • Applicable Post Secondary Technician or Technology Diploma
  • Work Term or Previous experience in Heavy Construction, Mining or Fabrication
