Compensation Details:
- Underwriter 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
- Underwriter 19: Salaries typically range from $112,006 to $149,341 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change).

Team & Job Overview:
EDC’s Mid‑Market Lending (MML) Program is regionally delivered and aligned with EDC’s 2030 Mid‑Market Segment Strategy. The program provides impactful senior and junior debt solutions to eligible Canadian companies seeking to expand internationally and grow their export revenues.
The Quebec and Ontario Mid-Market Lending workcells are seeking a strategic and execution‑focused Financing Manager to lead the origination of new senior and junior debt transactions, transaction underwriting, and manage a portfolio of existing assets. This role is well suited for a seasoned debt professional with experience in the Canadian mid‑market space.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong deal judgment and the ability to promptly assess and action opportunities presented to the program. They are skilled in triaging transactions based on risk profile, assessing company and sector projections and Canadian benefits, and are comfortable engaging directly with executive leadership teams of Canadian companies and participants across the Canadian capital ecosystem.
What you will be doing:
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop, evaluate, and triage financing opportunities in alignment with the Mid‑Market Lending program’s objectives, risk appetite, and strategic priorities.
- Lead transactions end‑to‑end, from origination through approval and signing
- Collaborates with Legal, Business Development, Finance, and Advisory teams across EDC throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Lead and manage due diligence, including financial, legal, and business assessments.
- Draft, submit, and present high‑quality credit memoranda to internal decision‑making and governance committees.
- Lead negotiations of credit documentation and transaction terms with clients and counterparties.
- Ensure transactions are structured and executed in compliance with EDC’s regulatory, policy, and governance frameworks, both at origination and throughout the loan lifecycle.
What your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will be:
- Structure senior and junior debt transactions that meet client needs, advance Mid‑Market Lending program objectives, and appropriately balances EDC’s risk, return, and policy considerations.
- Lead underwriting activities and actively manage a diversified portfolio of debt assets, ensuring risks are proactively identified, monitored, and mitigated throughout the loan lifecycle.
- Deliver high‑quality transaction execution, from origination through approval and closing, in alignment with EDC’s governance, regulatory, and risk frameworks.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal partners, Canadian mid‑market clients, and participants across the Canadian capital ecosystem.
- Support the development of junior team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and effective delegation.
- Achieve consistently positive feedback from internal governance committees and external partners regarding deal judgment, analytical rigor, execution quality, and professionalism
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field, and/or equivalent direct lending experience.
- 7–10+ years (depending on role) of progressively responsible experience independently structuring and/or restructuring complex financing solutions, including senior and junior capital.
- Proven track record with a referenceable deal sheet demonstrating independent execution of senior and junior debt transactions.
- Strong expertise in financial analysis, credit assessment, financial modeling, and deal structuring; experience with complex, non‑standard financing solutions and/or foreign jurisdictions is a strong asset.
- Highly collaborative and adaptable professional with strong interpersonal and communication skills, experienced in leading and coordinating complex financing transactions across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of exercising sound deal judgment and presenting recommendations to senior governance committees.
- For roles based in Quebec, bilingualism (English/French) is mandatory. For roles located in Ontario, bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
