Job Description Primary Location: Edmonton Reports to: Plant Manager Shift: Monday to Friday – 40 hours Compensation - $110,000 - $130,000 CDN Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.
About The Position And About You As a member of the plant leadership team, this role has shared accountability for ensuring reliable, cost-effective, profitable operations while meeting or exceeding Safety, Environmental, Responsible Care® and Quality standards.
The Operations Manager has a key role as part of the plant leadership team in advancing the performance, people, and systems of the operations team, and the plant overall, to these high standards. This will include networking and sharing best practices with other Chemtrade facilities, as well as from other industry leaders.
Qualification What You Need To Be Successful
- 5+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing environment, with knowledge of operational, process, and maintenance fundamentals
- 3+ years leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
- Must be a 3 rd Class Power Engineer and registered with ABSA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement processes is a key asset.
Responsibilities
- All responsibilities of a Steam Chief at a 3 rd class facility.
- Responsible for leading all manufacturing employees in safely operating the plant to meet production, quality, safety, and environmental goals.
- Work with various departments at the site to ensure all manufacturing and site objectives are met.
- Plan, organize, and control daily operational activities.
- Plan, schedule, and organize plant outages for maintenance activities.
- Organize and lead efforts to investigate, identify, and implement solutions related to process upsets, customer quality issues, process improvements, process and human productivity, and any other variances as needed,
- Lead the establishment of Responsible Care ethics within the whole plant.
- Operate the plant within approved fixed and variable budget plans and reconcile spending and usage to plan,
- Control compliance of all activities as relates to plant safety standards and practices.
- Assist in preparation of the plant’s period and capital plans,
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and operating problems,
- Ensure that the plant is operated within regulatory and permit limits and is in compliance with Chemtrade’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure that employees are properly trained, deemed competent, and the proper records and documentation are maintained.
- Responsible for preparation of reports, tracking raw material and energy usage, production volumes, shipping, inventory, etc.
- Actively work to develop personnel, maintain a positive working environment, resolve personnel conflicts, and serve as sounding board for others.
Physical Demands/ Work Environment
- Employee must be physically capable of spending long hours sitting in an office environment.
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Employee must be “fit for duty”.
