South West Detention Centre

The South West Detention Centre is a modern, maximumsecurity facility that operates as a regional detention centre for adults awaiting trial, sentencing, or transfer within Ontario's correctional system. Located at 4819 8th Concession Road in Windsor, the institution houses both male and female individuals and is designed with contemporary infrastructure that supports secure custody while enabling access to rehabilitative programs and services. As part of southwestern Ontario's correctional network, it plays a key role in managing remand populations through improved safety features, expanded capacity, and operational efficiencies. Positioned near the vibrant city of Windsor—bordering Detroit and known for its diverse culture, automotive heritage, and waterfront along the Detroit River—the region offers a dynamic backdrop of industry, crossborder connectivity, and scenic parks that shape the community it serves.

Vanier Centre for Women

The Vanier Centre for Women is a specialized provincial correctional facility dedicated to housing female adults who are either on remand, serving shortterm sentences, or transitioning through various phases of the justice system. Situated at 655 Martin Street in Milton, the centre provides a secure environment designed to support the unique needs of women in custody, emphasizing access to health services, programming, and reintegration supports aligned with traumainformed and genderresponsive approaches. As part of Ontario's central correctional network, Vanier contributes to safe custody while fostering pathways toward rehabilitation through a combination of structured routines and therapeutic initiatives. Located within the fastgrowing town of Milton—set against the scenic Niagara Escarpment and known for its conservation areas, trails, and familycentred community—the region provides a calm and natural landscape that contrasts with the centre's secure operations.

##What you bring to the team

###Mandatory requirements

• You are currently registered as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

###Leadership and Management Skills

• Provide daytoday operational leadership to ensure effective delivery of nursing and medical services.
• Mentor and support staff by fostering confidence, professional growth, and an inclusive team environment.
• Manage HR functions including performance reviews, attendance support, and identifying training needs.
• Lead change and continuous improvement by modeling OPS values and advancing qualityfocused initiatives.

###Nursing Knowledge and Expertise

• Apply broad clinical knowledge suited to correctional nursing, responding to diverse and evolving health needs.
• Ensure adherence to professional standards, including CNO practice guidelines, relevant legislation, and PHIPA requirements for safeguarding personal health information.
• Support safe clinical decision-making through assessment, triage, oversight of nursing services, and the promotion of secure, accurate documentation practices.
• Promote quality patient care by monitoring trends, identifying risks, guiding evidence-based practice, and reinforcing privacy-protective processes in all patient interactions.

###Technical Knowledge

• Use Microsoft 365 applications confidently including Teams, Outlook, and basic Excel for daily operations.
• Maintain secure documentation systems including electronic health records and medication management tools.
• Understand healthrelated legislation and policy frameworks that inform correctional health operations.
• Apply organizational and administrative systems to manage resources, scheduling, and reporting.

###Communication Skills

• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and resolve issues collaboratively.
• Provide clear direction and coaching to staff to ensure expectations, priorities, and standards are understood.
• Liaise professionally with external partners including community providers, legal representatives, and oversight bodies.
• Prepare and share accurate reports and documentation to support operational decisionmaking and accountability.
