Part-time: Athletics Support Staff

Desired Results of the Position:

Contributes to the Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) strategic vision of creating a prideful and spirited campus while upholding the professional image of the SA, and respecting the impact Althetics and Recreation has on the Algonquin College community.
Nature and Scope:
The Athletics Support Staff will assist in the delivery of well-rounded atlethic and recreation activities that will create enjoyment and engagement for the Algonquin student body and community. Upholding the professional image of The Students’ Association.
Job Duties:

Monitor the Gymansium and Climbing Wall to ensure a safe and welcoming environment

Check the proper completion of waivers before allowing each user on the climbing wall

Engage with students, share athletics information, and promote upcoming activities

Collaborate with the Fitness and Lifestyle Coordinator and Operations Assisant to prioritize tasks

Set up, rearrange, and dismantle equipment as required
-
Serve as an on-site contact during external rentals, answering questions, reporting concerns, and promoting a welcoming atmosphere

Maintain a high standard of customer service and engagement throughout all related facilities

Assist with inventory management and the exchange of athletics equipment

Follow closing procedures in athletic facilities, including clean-up, reporting issues, and equipment malfunctions

Uphold and promote all health and safety protocols as required by the Students’ Association and the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario

Assist in maintaining the Gymnasium and Fitness Zone facilities, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and safe

Additional support for general facility operations may assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

Must be able to work a flexible work week, including some evenings and weekends.

Ability to lift equipment up to 50lbs.

Experience working in athletics, rock climbing, or customer service is seen as an asset.

Must be currently enrolled and maintain status as an Algonquin College Student for the
2025/ 2026 school year.
Compensation:
- This position is paid $17.20/hour
- This position is a casual part-time position, approximately 5-15 hours a week as needed
