About the role
The Director of Hub Operations is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations within their assigned location, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective handling of Less-than-Truckload (LTL) and Parcel freight. This role provides leadership to operations, dock and driver teams, while maintaining exceptional service quality, safety standards, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

You will be required to:
Operational Leadership
- Direct and oversee LTL and Parcel sorting operations, including linehaul, yard, dock, and sort activities.
- Monitor and manage daily performance to achieve service, cost, and productivity objectives.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with vendors and service providers to support operational objectives and KPIs
- Ensure freight is handled safely, efficiently, and accurately, minimizing damages and claims.
- Oversee load planning, routing, and scheduling to optimize utilization of equipment, drivers, and dock labor.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues and potential problems related to maintenance and equipment.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, drivers, dock workers, and administrative staff.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all shifts.
- Conduct performance reviews, handle disciplinary actions, and ensure consistent application of company policies.
- Continuously identify and drive opportunities for improvement within the warehouse utilizing lean principles and methodology.
- Collaborate with HR and Talent Acquisitions team to recruit and retain high-performing team members.
Customer Service & Communication
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring timely issue resolution.
- Communicate service updates, operational changes, and performance metrics to leadership.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication between dispatch, drivers, and customers.
Compliance & Safety
- Enforce compliance with all company policies, transportation regulations, and safety standards (including Hours of Service, and workplace safety).
- Conduct regular facility, equipment, and process inspections to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives in operational safety and efficiency.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Manage budget, labor costs, and equipment utilization to achieve financial goals.
- Review and approve payroll, billing, and operational reports.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, cost per shipment, and claims ratio.
Do you fit the job profile?
- Minimum 5 years of Courier, Transportation or Logistics experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or terminal management role.
- Strong knowledge of LTL and Parcel freight operations, including dock and linehaul processes.
- Previous experience working in an automated Parcel Hub is a must
- Proven ability to manage teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and general dispatch software.
