The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, Northern Operations has an opportunity for a Provincial Airport Specialist who is highly motivated, results oriented and a team player. Located in Prince Albert, and part of the Airport and Marine Operations team, you will be responsible for policy interpretation, highly specialized expertise and training, and strategic long- and short-term planning for the 16 provincially owned airports.
You will provide airport expertise to Ministry staff, contractors and other agencies, specifically regarding airfield lighting systems, NOTAMs, radios, visual and non-visual navigational aids, Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices, Canadian Aviation Regulations, and other applicable airport policies, procedures and standards. You will work with federal and provincial agencies and departments in interpreting policy, and be responsible for the development and implementation of provincial standards and procedures to ensure that federal regulations are met. Through extensive experience and knowledge, the Provincial Airport Specialist is responsible for the airport inspection program, staff and contractor training, accident investigation, quality control, project planning and budget planning in a very unique area of the provincial transportation system.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position would be obtained through extensive and directly related experience in the airport operation industry.
A Class 5 driver’s license is required. Substantial overnight travel throughout the region by vehicle and airplane will be required. Construction projects may require extended stay in the field.
