We are seeking a Senior Cloud System Administrator to join our Cloud Projects & Solutions team. This role combines strategic advisory leadership (50%) with hands-on technical execution (50%) in a primarily AWS environment, with secondary responsibilities in Azure.
You will act as both a trusted cloud advisor and a technical lead, ensuring cloud solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and operationally sustainable.

Work arrangement: Hybrid, once a week
Location: Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures (candidates from Quebec City and Saguenay)

Your future duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Advisory & Strategy (50%)

• Define and evolve AWS cloud roadmaps aligned with business and client goals

• Design, review, and validate secure, scalable cloud architectures

• Provide governance and technical oversight for cloud initiatives

• Lead structured cloud project phases: discovery, design, implementation, validation, and operational handover

• Develop migration, modernization, and optimization strategies

• Support hybrid and multi-cloud environments incorporating Azure (~15%)

• Mentor team members and champion cloud best practices and standards

Execution (50%)

• Provision, configure, and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, EKS, etc.)
• Support Azure services including virtual machines, networking, storage, and data platforms
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred, CloudFormation)
• Automate deployments and operational processes (CI/CD pipelines, scripting)
• Monitor and optimize performance, availability, security, and cost
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis
• Maintain high-quality technical documentation and operational runbooks

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud computing, with strong hands-on expertise in AWS (required) and experience in Azure environments (asset)

• AWS certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps, or similar) preferred

• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred)

• Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and security best practices

• Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation

• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems

• Excellent communication skills in French and English

You combine strategic vision with technical depth — capable of defining roadmaps and governance models while remaining hands-on in production environments. You are a collaborative mentor, client-focused, and disciplined in documentation and operational excellence.

CGI provides a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position. This estimate is based on several factors, including skill level, geographic market, experience, education, and relevant professional licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are made based on the specifics of each individual case. The estimated salary range for this role is between $60,000 and $115,000. This position is currently vacant.
