Job Title: Associate Director, US Commercial & Medical IT Portfolio Management Lead

Role Overview The Associate Director, US Commercial & Medical IT Portfolio Management Lead is responsible for driving and governing the RDU Commercial & Medical IT portfolios. The goal is to ensure alignment with business strategy, financial outcomes, and operational performance across the Rare Disease Unit (RDU). This role provides strategic leadership and portfolio oversight, enabling effective investment decisions, delivery execution, and value realization while partnering closely with RDU IT Leadership and Commercial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Portfolio Strategy & Governance

• Lead the development of IT priorities and multi-year strategic roadmaps aligned to RDU Commercial & IT objectives.
• Ensure alignment of portfolio investments with business strategy, outcomes, and financial targets.
• Drive portfolio governance, ensuring data quality, compliance, and decision transparency via tools such as ServiceNow. Portfolio Delivery & Value Realization
• Oversee the end-to-end portfolio lifecycle, ensuring delivery performance and benefit realization across programs and projects.
• Provide leadership to achieve business outcomes, operational efficiency, and execution discipline.
• Track costs, risks, dependencies, and performance metrics across the portfolio. Portfolio Performance & Financial Management
• Drive portfolio performance management, including OKRs, scorecards, and reporting cadence.
• Partner with finance and operations to ensure budget discipline, forecasting accuracy, and investment optimization. Process Excellence & Transformation
• Implement and scale standardized portfolio management practices, including demand management, reporting, and governance processes.
• Advance portfolio maturity, Agile methodologies, and product-based operating models.
• Lead transformation initiatives, including AI portfolio governance, digital transformation, and operating model evolution. Stakeholder Leadership & Engagement
• Serve as a strategic partner to Commercial & Medical IT and business leaders, ensuring alignment on priorities and delivery outcomes.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships to enable decision-making, transparency, and accountability.
• Lead portfolio review forums (e.g., functional portfolio reviews, steering committees, Commercial & Medical Technology Boards, Business Review Meetings) and ensure consistent executive communication. Team Leadership
• Lead a team of portfolio managers across regions.
• Drive capability development, coaching, and performance management to improve portfolio effectiveness and delivery excellence.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree.
• 7–10 years' experience in IT portfolio management and strategic planning.
• Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional portfolios, including budgeting and resource management.
• Experience in Agile, product-based, and scaled delivery models.
• Strong leadership in stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making.
• Proven track record of continuous improvement in ways of working and processes. Preferred
• Experience in the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry.
• Certifications in PMP, Agile, or portfolio management disciplines.
• Familiarity with portfolio tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Power BI).
• Understanding of AI/GenAI and digital transformation trends.
