MACHINE OPERATOR

Reporting to the Supervisor and Skilled Lead Hand, Machine Operators are responsible for the efficient set up and operation of the further processing lines by ensuring machine operator duties are performed by following SOP’s, achieving yields, in a safe and efficient manner. Machine Operators will be responsible for following established food safety and quality procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following list of duties and responsibilities of the Machine Operator is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the job described. Rather they are intended only to describe the general nature of the job. Other reasonable duties may be assigned as required.

  • Ensure proper assembly of equipment needed for planned production in a safe and efficient manner. Operate and adjust equipment for optimum results.
  • Identifying and resolving minor machine issues, maximize efficiencies where possible, minimize down time, efficient change-over of products and reporting mechanical problems promptly.
  • Coordinate with further processing to ensure constant flow of product from tote.
  • Perform all line checks as per SOPs to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Organize dry goods to ensure compliance with specifications of the customer product.
  • Monitor feed hoppers, fryer and oil storge levels, ensure there is supply of dry good materials on hand as per production specifications.
  • Operate in an ERP system (DEACOM). Using a handheld scanner to issue materials to a job, input production (finished goods) and de-issue materials from the job. Maintain accurate production records.
  • Always ensure acceptable housekeeping, free of slip and trip hazards at all times.
  • Other duties as directed by Skilled Lead Hands and Supervisors.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience of manufacturing or food/meat production is preferred.
  • High school diploma or Grade 12 equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to handle heavy lifting of up to 30kg boxes and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to maintain a hand truck and forklift license.
  • Proven ability to understand and follow safety and work instructions in English.
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting, ability to work accurately and reliably.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work in a fast-paced, refrigerated setting, involving proximity to machinery and food ingredients.
  • Work in cold, wet and slippery plant conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Require flexible work schedule including mornings, afternoons and weekends.
  • Require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

**Job Type:**Full-time

Pay Rate:$22.05 to $23.05 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Morning/Afternoon shift
  • Weekends as needed
